We have been asked a lot of questions regarding how the election process will work. So that everyone is clear, we thought we would write a short article on just that. All information listed below is taken directly from the AAU code book!
VOTING IS SILENT
AAU CODE BOOK Article 3 Page 59

4. One (1) appointed representative from each Allied member that registers members in the sport
What is an Allied member? An allied member is an organization or group approved by Congress which is engaged in athletics or sports-related activities. Presently the AAU has no Allied members
5. The President may appoint up to two (2) members-at-large
WHO CAN VOTE? From the AAU CODE BOOK Article 1 page 9
At all meetings, only members of the Committee are permitted to vote. There shall be no voting by proxy. Each member of the Committee will have one vote.
Only representatives from Districts, and Allied members, which registered a minimum of .5% (a half percent) of the total number of athletes in that sport, in the previous year, shall be allowed to vote in the National Sport Committee meeting.
Question: How many votes does the current national sport chair receive?
Answer: 1
Question: How many member at large votes does the current national sport chair have to assign?
Answer: 0
Question: How many votes does the current executive committee receive?
Answer: Since our executive committee is appointed, not elected, they do not have a vote. However, there are 2 District Sport Directors currently on the Taekwondo executive committee. These members retain their district vote, but do not receive any additional votes.
Question: Do regional directors receive a vote?
Answer: Regional directors do not participate in the election of a national sport chair, unless the individual also holds the position of District Sport Director.
In closing, our sport has a maximum of 33 district votes, 1 vote from the national chair, and 2 votes from the President of the AAU if he chooses to participate. This gives us a grand total of 36 votes and NO more! Currently, we have a strong command of these votes and feel confident that with your continued support, we will succeed.
As always, should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact either of us. If you have any questions regarding the validity of these statements, please do not hesitate to contact the compliance department at AAU headquarters as we have.
